Gifts in Action - Frank Roque and Mary Lynn Eubanks

MEET FRANK ROQUE AND MARY LYNN EUBANKS

After seventeen years of annual Giving, Frank Roque, a 1981 alum of the U of I and his wife, Mary Lynn Eubanks, have created a Student Wellness Fund that supports the Counseling Center's programs; through their support, they hope to help students whose lives have been affected by clinical depression, as well as their families.

WHY THEY GAVE

During his time at the U of I, Frank built strong personal and academic relationships with his professors. He credits his later success at Hewitt Associates to these relationships and the guidance and support his professors provided. Frank and Mary Lynn have also been personally touched by depression and these two factors combined to motivate their gift.

Frank and Mary Lynn are impressed by the staff and facility that serves the variety of needs of the students. Frank states that “the genuine desire to help makes him proud of the strong and robust Center.” He credits Linda Cox, director of the Center, with its success in reaching students at Illinois. Frank and Mary Lynn hope that their support of the Counseling Center will help to create a community of support for students seeking a safe, trusting environment for treatment.

HOW THEY GAVE

Besides their support of the Counseling Center, the couple has contributed to the Annual Fund for several years and Frank has also given back to the university as a facilitator for the Illinois Leadership programs, Ignite and Imprint.

WHAT FRANK ROQUE SAYS

Frank states, “I was very impressed with the students and their early wisdom, inclusion and tolerance. If the Ignite participants are an accurate representation of their generation, I am optimistic about the future of our country and the world. This generation is realizing the dreams that my generation has for them.”
